Guide to working at a distributed work centre

To use a distributed work centre (DWC), you must:

Book a workpoint

You need to book a workpoint in advance for each day you intend to work at the DWC.

You can only book a workpoint for an entire day, not half-days or for a few hours.

You can work at a DWC subject to agreement with your manager.

Make connections with colleagues

Introduce yourself to your new DWC colleagues. They may be able to help you and you might make some new friends in your community.

Be considerate of others

Be mindful that you may be sharing kitchens and other facilities, so be considerate of your colleagues.

Consider your noise levels when working in a DWC.  There are breakout spaces and outdoor areas that can be used for private or focused discussions.

Look after your personal items

All DWCs have a clean desk policy, which means that you need to take all your personal belongings with you at the end of each work day.

Be familiar with the safety procedures

You will need to complete the online building and emergency training before you can get security access to the building. You should be aware of the emergency and evacuation procedures and know where the fire exits are located.

Manage your own connectivity

You need to be comfortable setting up and using your technology at the DWC. Contact your department's IT help service for any issues with connections and access (there is no IT support at any of the DWCs).
