Transport Infrastructure and Services (TIS) Category Council

The Transport Infrastructure and Services (TIS) Category is managed through the Transport Infrastructure Advisory Board which is chaired by an external representative and overseen through TMR’s Corporate Governance Committees.

The TIS Category Strategy is an opportunity to unlock hidden potential (value and benefits) from our key procurement categories of spend through working in new and innovative ways. Taking an integrated cross-category approach to how we strategically procure strengthens the ability to deliver Queensland Government commitments and targets.

Lead agency: Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Decision making authority

TMR's Corporate Governance Committee (Finance and Procurement) is responsible for monitoring the performance of the department's procurement function and providing senior executive direction on matters of strategic planning, policy, and compliance. In discharging its role, the Committee approves the Transport Infrastructure and Services category strategies, plans and reporting to whole-of-government.

The Transport Infrastructure Advisory Board has two broad roles:

  1. to drive and champion better collaboration, culture and capability in the transport civil sector and
  2. provide input and recommendations to TMR and Government on opportunities to ensure the ongoing sustainability1 of the industry post the 2032 Olympic and Para Olympic games, in areas such as:
    1. productivity
    2. diversity
    3. sustainability.

1 Framing the focus of the Board is 'A Sustainable Queensland Infrastructure Industry: 10 years and beyond'.

As the TIS category is broad and works with a variety of industries, engagement with industry, trade unions and other stakeholders occurs through existing networks and committees.
