Pay, awards, and agreements

Awards are documents made by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) that contain minimum terms and conditions of employment.

See the list of awards.

Certified agreements contain terms and conditions of employment negotiated between an employer and relevant public sector unions on behalf of employees.

Certified agreements which cover most Queensland public sector employees are made by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC).

The State Government Entities Certified Agreement 2019 (otherwise known as the 'Core Agreement') covers approximately 30,000 employees in over 40 entities.

The 2019 Salary Schedules are available in Appendix 3 of the State Government Entities Certified Agreement 2019.

*Note, as a result of clause 2.10(6) of the Core, “It is a term of this Agreement that no person covered by this Agreement will receive a rate of pay which is less than the corresponding rate of pay in the relevant parent award”, some classifications under the Core agreement may be receiving Award rates of pay.
