Get policy and legal advice
Policy and legislation
Contact the policy team in your department for advice about the policies and legislation that apply to your area of government. They can advise you about how to make changes to policies and legislation.
Procurement and purchasing
The procurement area in your department can advise you on procurement requirements, policies and procedures.
Legal advice
Seek legal advice from your department’s in-house legal area in the first instance.
Otherwise, you can contact Crown Law for specialist legal assistance that falls under a category of work tied to Crown Law. Tied work is legal work that should be performed by Crown Law due to public interest principles.
If the legal work is not tied work, you may be able to use a private law firm on the whole-of-government Legal Services Panel.
Collecting private information
If you collect private information, contact your department’s Right to Information and Information Privacy team for advice. They can help you ensure you collect and protect personal information according to the Information Privacy Act 2009 and Right to Information Act 2009.
