Our future training approach

On the 20 September we had our last Training Townhall with the QFES School. As you know, the purpose of the Townhalls was to seek your feedback, so we can make improvements to how training will occur within SES in the future. Overall, we had 11 townhalls with a wide range of stakeholders, so we can get a clear picture of what works well and areas where we need to improve. Thank you for everyone who provided feedback, it was invaluable!

In October we will start to build our future training approach. This will include creating a new Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for SES and start preparations to acquire our own instance of aXcelerate.

Local Government and SES engagements

Local Government engagements will continue this month, where we will discuss the disaster and emergency services reforms. We will continue to liaise with Local Government, as the reform progresses.

In addition to this, engagement across the SES will also continue. If you would like the SES project team to visit your unit or like to see Deputy Commissioner Chelepy from the Queensland Police Service at your unit, let us know by contacting us.

Our Change Champions

Our Change Champions are currently focus on assisting with the planning and preparation phase. This work is largely ‘behind the scenes’ work.  It involves identify any gaps, risks or issues that need to be addressed before, during or after the transition. This work is a critical part of managing change and this work will help us transition more seamlessly to QPS in 2024.

Scoping our transition of corporate support and operational functions

Work has commenced to understand policy and procedure impacts with our transition to QPS. This work will inform how we provide training/support to enable SES to continue to operate post transition to QPS.

We will keep you updated as this work progresses.

Disaster and Emergency Services Reform sentiment survey

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we kindly invite you to participate in our disaster and emergency services reform sentiment survey. This survey aims to gather your awareness and sentiment on the reforms and associated communication.

Your honest input will help build our strategies and support systems to better meet your needs.

Survey us closing 4 October 2023. This survey will be sent quarterly to keep track of your sentiment and improve our communication.

Complete the survey now.
