Under the recruitment and selection directive, if an applicant requests feedback, a member of the selection panel must provide timely and constructive feedback that explains the panel’s recommendation or recruitment decision.
The feedback session is conducted in a friendly, direct and constructive manner. It is descriptive rather than judgemental. The feedback follows a similar approach to the selection process.
Provide an overview of the selection strategy, including the:
- written application
- shortlisting and an overview of the assessment process
- performance at the interview and any other assessment techniques
- referee checks.
Provide specific comments on:
- the candidate’s performance against the selection criteria
- where the panel perceived the strengths and weaknesses.
The panel should offer feedback as soon as possible and ensure all ll applicants have been notified of the selection outcome once the process is concluded to ensure good candidate care.
