A message from the Premier

Well, tomorrow's Queensland Day, our 167th birthday.

It's an exciting day. It's a day that we stood on our own and separated from New South Wales. That's worth celebrating.

As Queenslanders, we're lucky to call this great state home, and what we're doing with Queensland Day is about the excitement that we're feeling in the state at the moment and shining a spotlight on it.

Beyond sport and the parties, for me, it's a great time to take the time to reflect on what makes this state so very great, and it's difficult to do that without including our public service, who are the touch point for every community across this state.

To our frontline workers, often the first faces Queensland see in their toughest moments, and while we're grateful for the work that you do every day, Queensland Day is about celebrating our state and the people who make it great.

So to our police and our firies who put themselves on the line, our SES, day in, day out, thank you for your courage and commitment to making Queensland safer.

To our nurses, our doctors, our paramedics, everyone who works in the health system, you spend tireless hours delivering comfort and care for Queenslanders when it matters most.

Thank you for the compassion and dedication to keeping Queenslanders safe and well.

To our teachers, our school support staff, you show up every day to educate and support the next generation, and on Queensland Day, we should think and acknowledge about how important the work you do is to making sure that there is a bright future for that next generation.

To every person working in the public service, I want to recognise you.

I want to thank you for the role that you play in this great state.

You embody the very best of the Queensland spirit.

I'm grateful for the hard work you do for this state every day.

So tomorrow, I hope you get a chance to celebrate Queensland Day.

We've got a really big program that a number of people in the public service have worked to put together.

If you're in Brissie, head down to the Queensland Day party on Caxton Street.

There'll be an afternoon full of food and drinks and Queensland music, including great Queenslander, former Australian of the Year, Lee Kernaghan.

If you're outside of Brisbane, don't worry.

We've partnered with a number of the councils and different community groups, so there's events right across the state.

And if not, host your own party and be proud of what you do as Queenslanders.

There's a mega round of sport: AFL, NRL, netball, horse racing.

Thanks to everyone who's helping to deliver these celebrations.

It's really going to be great. It's going to be active.

So happy Queensland Day to everyone.

Thank you for what you do every day to make Queensland the great state it is, and enjoy being a Queenslander.
