Brisbane Pride Month
1st Sep 2023A celebration and recognition of the LGBTIQ+ community of Brisbane, Pride Month includes the long-standing Pride Rally and March where community members and allies take to the streets to show support.
Transgender Awareness Week is a week when transgender people and their allies take action to increase positive visibility of trans people and their contributions at work and in the community, and to address issues of prejudice and discrimination.
On November 20, the week is closed out with Transgender Day of Remembrance—a solemn day, during which those who have lost their lives to transphobic violence and discrimination are honoured and remembered.
Queensland Government employees are encouraged to show your support. Wear rainbow to show your support and increase awareness. Find out more about trans inclusion or consider participating in a vigil to show your support. The Queensland Human Rights Commission publication Trans@work is also a great source of information that can be shared within your agency.
Queensland Government employees can get involved by hosting morning teas, or contacting the LGBTIQ+ Steering Committee for information on webinars and online resources.
