As we step into the post-coronavirus future and transition back to the workplace, it’s important to understand the framework, decision-making processes and everyone’s responsibilities in creating a COVID safe workplace.
To signal a return to more normal operations, the Queensland Government requested agencies prepare for the gradual and safe return to the workplace of up to 25% of those employees who have been working remotely due to the pandemic, by 15 June 2020. Over 80% of public servants have continued to perform their jobs in their usual workplaces during the last few months.
Key to the planning around returning to the workplace are the public health directions issued by Queensland’s Chief Health Officer. The transition to workplaces will take a ‘test and learn’ approach, and in line with advice from the Chief Health Officer, we would expect to roll out further phases where more employees return to their workplaces over the coming months.
