Get the headlines from QSS's first Finance ARG

Published 04/12/2018

On 25 October 2018, we hosted our first Finance Agency Reference Group meeting. We invited representatives from across our customer agencies to discuss a range of current finance priorities and proposed future work.

What did we cover?

We discussed:

  • the new Australian Accounting Standards Board leasing standard (AABS 16) and the changes we need to make to ensure impacted agencies comply by 1 July 2019
  • the rest-of-government (RoG) SAP support packs (patching) and the help we’ll need from agencies during user acceptance testing
  • rapid low risk change prioritisation for core and shared system functionality
  • general ledger automation
  • BPay and BPoint
  • the Building Industry Fairness Act
  • whole-of-government procure to pay.

We also held a group activity to identify future priorities for agencies. This provided us some valuable insight into each agency’s focus.

Automation remains a priority in the accounts payable space for both procurement processes and travel.

Out-of-pocket expenses and eForm enhancements also ranked highly.

What’s next?

We’re going to establish working groups for several of our current finance activities:

  • the new leasing standard
  • BPay and BPoint
  • rapid low risk change prioritisation.

We’ll also invite participants to complete a survey in early December. The results will help shape our finance program of work for early 2019.
