Sentencing by exception

Glossary topic:
Recordkeeping

The process of sentencing an agency’s most important and valuable records first according to specific record classes, and then sentencing remaining records using common default classes in a retention and disposal schedule. These have often been rolled up, resulting in fewer record classes within an authorised retention and disposal schedule.
