Module 4: Checkpoint 28—Check boxes
Check boxes must represent 'and' options.
Benefits of conformance
- Conforms to user expectations of check boxes which will reduce the cognitive load to determine how to respond.
Risks of non-conformance
- Increased cognitive load.
- Reduced trust.
Check boxes are to be used where the user can select more than one of the present options.
If the user may select only one of the present options, radio buttons must be used.
Use of multi-line select inputs is discouraged as they pose usability challenges to most users.
