Appoint to a higher classification role assessment
Queensland Government employees can, after one year of performing higher duties, and in each successive year or whenever the position becomes substantively vacant, request to be permanently appointed to the higher classification role.
Section 149C of the Public Service Act 2008 and the Appointing a public service employee to a higher classification level directive set out the conditions.
You must consider if the employee:
- is eligible on merit
- is appointed or employed in the same agency
- has been engaged in the role for at least one year
- is a casual employee, senior officer, senior executive service officer, chief executive officer.
The employee must not be a casual employee, senior executive service officer or chief executive officer.
You must also consider your operational requirements, any previous review decisions, and the employee’s human rights.
