About

QSA Creative in Residence exhibition

Tropical Treasures is an exhibition of works by artist Donna Davis created during her 2019 residency at Queensland State Archives; where she explored stories of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area from a floristic perspective.

The residency was embedded within the framework of a current environmental conservation rescue mission entitled the Tropical Mountain Flora Project; an operation led by the Australian Tropical Herbarium and the Wet Tropics Management Authority, with Davis as the resident artist.

Davis used the QSA residency to add a rich layer of historical, political and social records plus real-time data gathered during the current rescue mission to create works reflecting past, present and possible imaged futures of endangered flora endemic to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
