The following is a summary of different types of Queensland Government websites. It includes information about each website's intended purpose and audience, publishing requirements and content examples.

Use this information to help you decide where to publish your web content.

Campaign website

Public/private:Public
Purpose:Raise awareness or educate the public about a particular topic or initiative (i.e. with a goal of behavioural/social change).
Note: Used for time-limited content that cannot be delivered through a ‘franchise.’

Purpose:Promote a department or agency

  • Our priorities (what our priorities are and how we’re doing)

Data Portal

Purpose:The Data Portal is a single location for hosting raw Queensland Government data (unformatted CSV, XML, etc.) that is suitable for public release under an open licence

Extranet

Public/private:Private
Purpose:Securely share organisational information and services with authorised external groups, either by having a login area, or using GovNet or similar platforms, which are only accessible to certain groups.

Publications Portal

Purpose:The Publications Portal is a single location for hosting Queensland Government non-HTML documents and files (e.g. DOC and PDF).

Queensland Government website (One-Stop Shop franchises)

The Queensland Government website delivers customer-focused Queensland Government information and online services to 3 different audiences:

Statutory authority website

Purpose:Provide a web presence for an independent body set up (usually under specific legislation and sometimes as a separate legal entity to government) to enact legislation on behalf of government or provide government with strategic advice.
