Queensland Government Cyber Security Unit (QGCSU) is partnering with OKRDY to provide a cross sector mentoring program to support staff to advance their digital career.
OKRDY will host an easily accessible platform for short or longer-term connections. The program will leverage the wealth of experience across our digital professionals and encourage early or mid-career mentees to excel in their chosen career pathways.
Mentoring is rewarding for everyone involved, you can devote as little or as much time as you wish to gain wide-ranging benefits for the mentor and mentee alike.
Mentees can develop technical expertise, receive career guidance, broaden their network, receive advice on professional development, and improve their professional self-confidence.
Mentors can benefit from a raised profile, capability development in leadership and a recognition of their skills and expertise.
When the program will run
The initial 6-month pilot program will launch in late August and target mentees currently completing the Certificate IV in Cyber Security, and the 2021 Digital and ICT Graduates. Mentors will be sought from across technical, digital and IT streams in the sector. As the mentoring ecosystem gains momentum, we will invite new participants into 2022.
How matching works
The OKRDY application will generate recommended matches based on participant profile data. The more specific data provided, the better the matches. Everyone is in control of their matches.
Mentors and mentees will be encouraged to connect and communicate with their matches via informal mentoring within a private instance of the OKRDY platform.
Interaction may be face-to-face or virtual, depending on individual preferences. Events will also be offered during the program.
